the grooves of thomas white and pete williams aka natural rhythm, have been a mainstay in the sets of robsoul boss phil weeks for more than a decade. today he pays tribute with a special re-release of some of his favourites. born in a garage in the late 90s, natural rhythm was a meeting of passionate musical minds. working together the pair sought to create their own style and sound, influenced by the tracks they were regularly spinning in their own dj sets across the country. creative sampling and their own raw beats, together with live instrumentation and regular guest vocalists, saw natural rhythm create a strong catalogue that, as we know, are still getting played today. with three albums and over 35 ep/single releases to their name, there more than enough music for label boss weeks to select from for the tribute ep. a tough job? of course. however, phil went straight for the four that never leave his box. leading the ep are the sun-drenched vocal vibes of something big, the title track of natural rhythms 1999 release on under the counter. our a2 is the lead track from 2001s last call at the martini ranch ep, chicago nights, with its quaking bassline and disco dalliance. on the flip were treated to a choice selection from natural rhythms 1999 double album contrast in nature. first up with its celestial chimes and thumping kick is smoldering island, taken from the original part 1. closing the tribute release and taken from part 2 is the devilishly funky and suitably titled feelgood jam energized. we definitely are!

hey everyone, dont be alarmed as we understand that you just heard of us a few weeks back. here we are again with another doobified doozie of a 12inch. from the furthest reaches of the canadian west coast comes a concoction by three well known faces that have a long history of working together, they prefer to remain anonymous for this 12inch for reasons beyond us. were not that good at keeping secrets and have a suspicion that you hear the rambling house that is emitted from this trio brings to your ears will recall something very familiar. johnny lumière and the triads, originally conceived as side characters of the adventures of t-bar and salary man cartoon (never published). the music was recorded during break intervals in the cartoon writing sessions (still seeking illustrator). file this under mystified house with a splash of sunshine. ps:weve been doing our own printed sleeves for the last few records from a really cool print house here in berlin. we think they look unique as they are a print/ fold out designed by our friend dave girard. people seem to be into them and figured we should say that as we are only doing limited runs of them.

debut release on the new kaleidoscope jazz chair reissues label. first release contains some beautiful and well crafted dubbed out techno by kit clayton with his 1998 deadlock tune originally released as the b2 on the 4-track unreliable networks ep (on silent servant s label cytrax ), it slipped under many a record buyer s radar. nearly 20 years later, now that electronic musical tastes have matured and expanded, the time seemed right to re-present, this lush, atmospheric, percussive work out to the heads, deservedly pressed on a full side of 12- vinyl. pussy clap was originally released on the remote label, set up by charles webster, and featured house music predominantly written by charles and neil tolliday, better known as nail. jorge felucca was the alias that neil used when creating the more dubbed out, techy tracks for the label. sounding somewhat like a deep house take on maurizio, pussy clap was also released in 98, but had since fallen into obscurity, and the time had come for it to be rejuvenated and polished with an amazing remaster by pole for the modern ear that is a dramatic improvement on the original

the martinez brothers cuttin headz returns with a new ep from the butcha, entitled 10001 and backed with two remixes from matrixxman. phil moffa aka the butcha is a new york city based musician, producer and engineer most notably known for his works alongside dj spider and anthony parasole for sublevel sounds / plan b recordings and alongside seth troxler for hypercolour. here we see him return to the fledgling cuttin headz imprint with his idiosyncratic take on raw, emotive house music following his destination void release alongside dj spider and brendon moeller last year. up first are two originals from the butcha, the first of which 99 prince st. lays focus on echoing atmospherics, snaking rhodes and shuffling dubbed out percussion while the latter, 6 hubert st. pivots towards an amalgamation an upfront organic rhythm alongside a weighty low end drive and wandering synth swells. to complete the package san franciscos matrixxman delivers two interpretations, firstly the acidized mix which as the name would suggest draws on squelching 303 lines layered over processed snippets from the original before the digital bonus transhuman mix closes on an arpeggio fuelled techno tip.

celestial being visited nairobi at the end of august and beginning of september 2012 where he worked with local musicians to create celestial music. kenge kenge brought cow horns and hand made drums and were joined by local folk singers olith, who had come to nairobi through making music with king kong and irungu with his father who has since passed. when asked what the kenge groove sounded like, the receptionist prisca said its like the angel is coming before proceeding to provide additional vocals for all three tracks. nairobi story tells of an ancient village story passed down as a folk song to the present generation. celestial being kept forgetting whether olith was male or female and ending up making a song with him called all woman. this is currently a vinyl only release

originally released on infarkt records, this great ep gets back to life on atomium. florida boys is a frankfurt/offenbach-based electronic music project by dirk schricker and matthias braun. they have been actively creating music between 1996 and 1998, releasing a couple of tracks on eps and compilations which have been part of the first wave of german underground house music. in 2016 they reanimated their project and are currently working on new music while getting a repress of the much-wanted starship groupies ep.

light in the attic reissues their impossible to find 1969 album, originally out on third world recordings ! 5 on kurt cobains top 50 favorite albums. philosophy of the world is a collection of garage rock tunes that balanced charm and discordance in equal measure. in 1968, three sisters from fremont, new hampshire strapped on their instruments and declared themselves the shaggs. at that moment begun a peculiar tale that would last far beyond the groups five-year run. dot, betty and helen (and occasionally rachel, the fourth sister) played in the group on the insistence of their father, austin wiggin jr., who was convinced they were going to be big. years earlier, austins mother gave him a palm reading, predicting that her son would marry a strawberry blonde woman, that he would have two sons after his mother died, and that his daughters would form a popular music outfit. the first two became reality, so austin was certain the third would follow suit.

pau encinas also known as cauto returns after several years of apparent inactivity. his previous ep, 35/8, was published in 2011 via disboot. since then until now, he has worked on several collaborations and remixes. one of the reasons for disboots existence is to promote and release young and local talent. cauto, without exception, is an essential one of these.
